Product Details

A RARE .22 (L/R) HARTFORD ARMS CO. SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, serial no. 2808,
for 1929-30, with 6 5/8in. tapering round barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the left hand side of breech marked 'MANFD. BY THE HARTFORD ARMS & EQUIP. CO, HARTFORD CONN' and 'PATENTED' above the calibre, machined slide, solid frame and chequered hard rubber grips, strong traces of finish

Provenance: The Hartford Arms & Equipment Company in Hartford, U.S.A. was the fore-runner to the High Standard Company, who acquired the business in 1930. This pistol is similar to what became known as the Hi-Standard Model 'B'. Very few were manufactured in the company's one year of existence and the production was split across three models, the semi automatic (as here), the manual cocker; basically the same gun but requiring the user to manually operate the slide between shots, and a single shot version with no facility for magazine
